Hello! If you are looking for fashion advice, you have come to the right place! My name is Naavya, and I am "vertically challenged" as some say and often times clothes would emphasize my lack in height until I learned how to dress to appear taller! So, if you are in the same boat as me, this website will teach you tips and tricks to look taller and even some stores to shop at that offer clothing that suits shorter frames.

Tips and Tricks!

Tip 1 - Avoid baggy clothing

Baggy clothing hides the natural shape of your bodies curve and can make you look shorted and wider. Baggy clothing is certainly in style now with baggy jeans, sweatpants and sweatshirts but try pairing baggy jeans or sweats with a tighter shirt which can make your torso look longer especially with low rise jeans where you can pull your shirt over your hip bone to make you torso look elongated.

Tip 2 - Wear above the knee dresses/skirts

Longer skirts and dresses create the appearance long smooth vertical lines. High-waisted maxi skirts or dresses have no breaks like jeans or leggings therefor creating a smooth vertical effect and make your legs look longer.

Tip 3 - Avoid crop tops (especially with low/mid-waisted pants)

Although stylish, crop tops make your torso look smaller because it creates a harsh break in the middle of your stomach. Furthermore, wearing low- waisted pants with crops tops can make your legs seem shorter as well. However, wearing a crop top with high-waisted pants can make your legs appear longer.

Tip 4 - Slightly longer socks/ High -tops that match

Wearing longer socks or high-top shoes that are the corresponding color to your outfit makes your legs look longer because it creates a smoother and more vertical look. Shorter socks or shoes cut down at the ankle make your legs look shorter because it makes it look like there is a harsh brake at your feet shortening the appearance of your legs.

Tip 5 - Monochrome style

As mentioned previously, clothes or shoes with corresponding colors often create a smother vertical look. Wearing matching is a great way to make yourself look taller, or even shirts and pants that are a similar color. You could pair blue jeans with a blue top or sweater, or the color coordinated sweatshirt and pants set.

Tip 6 - Vertical Stripes

Vertical stripes are an extremely effective way to make yourself look taller. They create a sort of "stretching effect" which can elongate the look of your legs.

Target

Target is great because it's more affordable and the xs options fit great for certain dresses that do not have a deep cut in the bust. I often get my formal dresses from here and they have so many cute options.

Finding cute work-out sets has been a challenge but Athleta, while a little pricey, have so many cute sets and their leggings are great for people with short stature. Especially their flare leggings, they fit like a charm for people 4'10" and above.
